What can we do to reduce the power consumption and improve the brightness of of led lights in electric vehicles
06-07-2024
As we see, power consumption is one of the important factors we need to consider for electric vehicels that have limited power supply of on-the-vehicle battery.
Although led work lights are energy-saving, we still can find solutions to reduce power consumption and improve their lighting performance.
Here are helpful tips we can adopt to reduce power consumption.
1) LED drirver ic optimization: THe constant current LED driver ic can adjust the voltage of led light automatically and regulate the power to the LED chips. Optimization on circuit can result in reducing wasted power greatly. We can use high-eeficiency components and advanced driver topologies.
2)Active dimming or pulse width modulation (PWM)technologies:
This technology can adjust the brightness of LED lights by powering on and off rapidly.
3)Thicker aluminum housings: Thicker aluminum housings means thicker heat sinks, which will be helpful for better heat dissipation. In doing so, we can avoid overheating and acheive more efficient LED operation.
Although we can find some tips to improve the cooling on the lamps, we need to consider improving the lighting performance of led lights so as to make efficient use of power supply.
The following suggestions will be helpful.
1)LED chip selection: Choosing high-lumen CREE,Epistar or Osram LED chips can achieve more light output per watt of power consumed. Consider LED chips specifically designed for LED work lights, which often prioritize high luminous efficacy.
2)Optical design: Based on spot beam or flood beam patterns, the light distribution of the LED work lights is so important. Using PC reflecting optics, 4D lenses, or diffusers can optimize the light pattern to direct light illumination exactly where its needed, reducing wasted illumination.
3)Color temperature: The appropriate color temperature for led work lights in different environment is important. Cooler color temperatures (6000K~6500K) provide better visibility for focused work, while warmer temperatures (around 4000K) might be preferable for general illumination.
3) Wide range DC voltage adjustment: As the starting voltage of on-the-vehicle might be very high, up to at least 80V DC, we need to provide LED driver ic that can provide very wide range of working voltage from 12V to 100V DC for the safety of operation and long-time operation.
After we implete the above stragegies, LED work lights that are installed onto electric vehicles can offer excellet illumination while minimizing their power consumption on the battery in electric vehicles.
