Is UV treatment helpful for higher brightness and longer lifetime of optic materials

UV treatment on optic materials for optics or optical len of led work lamps
One of the best solutions most people neglect is UV treatment on optics. In our in-house tests, our engineers find UV light can clean and remove hidden contaminants like dust,oil from the optic curvature. The contaminats can reduce light transmission and total lighting efficacy of led work lamp. Basically, optic materials can become yellowed or cloudy after some time during the opertation of led work lamps . UV treatment can help slow down the degradation of optic materials so as to keep the optical clarity of optical lens.

In order to achieve the best UV treatment, we need to choose the best bandwidth of UV LED for best result because different wavelengths of UV light have differnt effects on the same optic materials. For instance, we often choose UV wavelenth range 315~400nm for deep penetration on some materials. 


The composition of the optic material can influence its susceptibility to degradation and the effectiveness of UV treatment.  For most of Teehon led work lamps, we choose PC materials for the purpose of anti-scratch and reliability. 

Although regular UV treatment is necessary to maintain the desired effections on optic materials, excessive UV exposure can degrade certain optic materials, so its crucial to use UV treatment in moderation and with appropriate equipment.
