Rigid Industries Adopts Osram LEDs to provide impressive results by their offroad LED light bar

Rigid Industries, a leader in offroad LED work lights and LED light bars, partnered with Osram Opto Semiconductors to provide tough, extremly tested products for its new off-road night vision lighting series – the E- and SR-series. These new Rigid infrared (IR) night vision off-road lights complement the full line of Rigid visible off-road LED lights. Both versions feature Osram high quality, high reliability, infrared LEDs (IRED) and visible LEDs.

The new night visions systems from Rigid feature IR Oslon Black LEDs, supplied by Osram Opto Semiconductors because they are similarly tough with superior reliability. IR Oslon Black provides IR lighting for night vision operation and, with more than 1W at 1A total optical flux, it is the most powerful single chip, high power IRED available today.

Before the new products sold, Rigid engineers conducted a series of deliberately intense stress tests to prove that the lights can endure the most extreme real-world off-road environments. To simulate what can happen when you mix hard-core off-road driving experience with intense dirt trails and harsh environmental elements, Rigid pushes its products to the breaking point to see how they perform through a series of torture tests that include using hammers and saws. This type of testing ensures Rigid products far exceed the performance needed for a tough and reliable off-road lighting application.

"Rigid LED lights are made with only the highest grade materials available," said Rigid vice president of engineering, Jim Heckman. "Our products stand out in this industry because of our tight binning of LEDs, the unparalleled patented optics and torture-tested housings, which all work together to provide drivers with the reliability and visibility they need when off-roading after dark."

The IR Oslon Black is smallest IRED with more than one watt of optical power today and available with a wavelength of 850 nm and 940 nm. The small package with integrated lens allows compact arrangements of very high power density. This, together with its long lifetime, makes an attractive IRED solution required in off-road lighting.

"Our Oslon family of both visible and IR LEDs help Rigid maintain their reputation of providing the brightest, most reliable off-road LED lights on the market today," said Osram Opto Semiconductors marketing manager for IREDs, Sevugan Nagappan. "They provide industry leading brightness ranges, standardized design across an expanding product family, and custom beam types shaping for specific applications."

Off-road rally race teams and weekend riders choose Rigid because they trust their products will provide the best possible light and keep them safe at night.

"Compared to traditional light sources, Osram IREDs draw less power, have a longer life, and the LED is less easy to shock and vibration, meaning a more consistent and stable light source for off-road drving ," said Heckman. "Plus they can really take a beating and keep on shining."
