Osram has introduced Lumina MOCVD System from Veeco for mass production of led chips

Veeco Instruments has confirmed that Osram Opto Semiconductors has used Lumina MOCVD System from Veeco for production of high-end LED chips and to drive the next generation of advanced photonic devices.

The Lumina system has been proven to set new standards for productivity that will be up to market requirements.The new Lumina system is built on over 20 years of high volume MOCVD expertise and work with the proven performance of the core TurboDisc technology. To enable the next generation of devices, world-famous companies like Osram depend on superior film quality, exceptional uniformity and repeatability with competitive cost of ownership.

The core of the Lumina system is MOCVD TurboDisc technology from Veeco, which is designer for high uniformity and minimum defects. The system can put high quality AsP epitaxial layers on wafers up to eight inches in diameter.

The Lumina system allows users to customise their systems for maximum value in producing IRED, LED, Edge-Emitting Lasers and VCSELs in high volume.
