ROHMs newest RGB LED chip can minimize color variatios for automotive interior lighting
Japanese ROHM has developed a latest RGB LED chip that is SMLVN6RGBFU ideal for automotive interior lighting, such as function and status indicators in instrument clusters, CID (Center Information Displays) and accent lighting for footwells and door handles.

Nowadays, more driver assistance functions such as automatic speed control, vehicle distance/white line detection have been introduced to vehicles and make them electronic and sophisticated. There is rising market demand for RGB LED chip that can provide a wide range of colors for operational status in instrument panels and meters clusters. Also, more and more drivers prfer comfortable and luxurious cabin space with RGB decorative lighting.

Facing the rising market needs,  ROHM has developed an RGB LED chip that can achieve precise control of wavelength and brightness of mounted red, green, and blue (RGB) elements individually and methods to enhance color-mixing capability.

ROHM has minimized element color variation over general products by a vertically integrated production system at the element fabrication stage. Original element color mixing control technology reduces color variations arising from color mixing that might occur easily in RGB chip, which help achieve accurate color expression required by automotive interior lights. Detailed color matching for specific use specifications requirements can be achieved with chromaticity simulation system.Based on this chromaticity simulation system, precise color matching can be available to bring the color close to expectations by setting adjustment coefficients for each chromaticity rank and providing calibration on the RGB LED chip SMLVN6RGBFU.
