Why is there some moisture in the optical lens of automotive led light bars after the lights are turned on
16-11-2024Sometimes, little moisture can be found in some of our led light bars with air vent at the back after the led light bars are turned on. It is not waterproof failure if the moisture can go off after the led light bar heats up and cools down.
This issue of moisture might arise from some following reasons such as changes of temperature, manufacturing control and environmental factors.
For example, if residual moisture during the manufacturing remains inside the aluminum housings or thermal grease, the moisture in the air condenses on the optical lens. After the led light bars heat up, it can create a evaporation that results in moisture buildup. During the assembling, we strive for perfect seals on the aluminum housings. However, strong vibrations on the road might result in minor imperfections on the seals of both ends.Moisture might enter the aluminum housing little by little after some time. Extreme weather conditions such as heavy rain, snow and fog can contribute to moisture buildup within the led light bar.
Basically, minor condensation is not a big problem because it can dissipate after half an hour after the led light bar is turned on.
However, end users might have their own concerns and make water ingress claims in terms of reduced lighting output, possible short circuit and easy corrosion of internal components of the light bar.
In order to minimize the risk of moisture-related issues and ensure the longevity of your automotive LED light bars, we need to follow up the following procedures during the manufacturing and operation.
In the in-house tests in teehon factory, workers will put all of the light bars into water in deep water basin to make sure of proper seals. They will also make ventilation tests to avert any leaks or signs that might results in waterproof failure. Before the light bars are packed into foam protection, they will use a air dryer to dry any water on the front of optical lens or housings.
By understanding the causes and potential consequences of moisture in LED light bars, you can take appropriate steps to mitigate the issue and ensure the longevity of your led light bars.
