What purposes are the amber led grill lights installed near the bumper of jeep mainly used for

Those small amber LED grill lights installed inside grille of a jeep or near the front bumper serve a mix of practical, legal, and cosmetic purposes. While they look like a stylish add-on led light, their roots come directly from commercial trucking safety regulations.

The primary practical function of amber light is contrast and penetration in poor weather. In theory, amber led has a longer wavelength than blue or daytime white light. This allows it to illuminate through airborne particles like heavy dust, dense fog, smoke, or driving snow without much blinding reflection. In doing so, it makes the jeep highly visible to oncoming traffic or trail partners long before the vehicle itself can be clearly seen.

When off-road driving in groups, trail dust can quickly drop visibility to near zero. A set of amber LED grille lights helps trailing drivers keep track of the vehicle ahead. They act as a constant visual anchor, helping others judge the distance, width, and positioning of the Jeep on narrow or hazardous paths.
Legally, the US Department of Transportation (DOT) mandates that any vehicle 80 inches or wider , such as Ford F-150 Raptor, Ram TRX, or commercial semi-trucks must feature three amber clearance identification LED lights in the center front and two at the fenders.

While a stock Jeep Wrangler or Gladiator is under 80 inches wide and does not legally require them, many drivers also install optional LED grille lights to mimic that aggressive, wide-body commercial truck look.

Sometimes, a Jeep is modified with extreme wide-track axles, massive suspension lifts, and wide-offset wheels that push the body width past the mandate of 80-inch wide, these LED grill lights will help meet a legal safety requirement rather than only a cosmetic choice to indicate a  clear warning to oncoming drivers.
