what solutions can we adopt to reduce the possibility of flickering or dimming on auto led work lamps

Sometimes, we might receives complaints about LED flickering or dimming on automobile led work lights in harsh environments. The occurrence of problems might arise from the components inside the lamp or other than the lamp.

Basically, all of our auto led work lights works at wide DC power supply. Fluctuations in current or voltage will result in flickering. In order to ensure consistent brightness without flicker, high quality constant-current LED driver ics are installed to achieve support of wide working voltage from 12V to 60V DC at least. Nowadays, voltage spikes often happen frequently in automotive and industrial scenarios, especially in some electric vehicles.Voltage regulators or surge protectors can help stabilize power supply to led work lights in some way.However, we do not suggest power inverters that might cause inadequate DC voltage or other unexpected problems of power supply.

High quality and famous led chips, such as osram,cree or epistar will not only reduce the possibility of flicking and dimming but also extend the lifetime of LED work lamp in harsh conditions. Of course, IP67 waterproof ratings with robust aluminum housings can withstand impacts and vibrations, which will also reduce the failure possibility.

Other components such as resistor,  capicator are also important for constant and reliable DC power supply to led work lamps.

In environments with heavy duty machinery or radio interference in mining applications, the EMI problems will make big troubles, so we suggest installing optional ECE modules and shielded power cables onto the led work lamps.

Poor wiring quality and loose connections might be another reason of LED flickering, so tight and secure connections, high quality connectors are strongly recommended to avoid abrasion, moisture and over heat. In vehicles with CAN bus systems, ensure LED work lights are well compatible to avoid dimming and flickering.

In offroad and commercial automotive applications, particularly the multi-purpose led work lights with daytime running lights or turning signals indications, PWM modules can reliability regulate the current to prevent this problem.

Pay attention to the above mentioned factors, we can reduce or avoid the unexpected problems of led flicking or fast dimming in harsh working conditions or driving adventure.
