How can we optimize the regular atv led whip lights for the purpose of led snow plow marker

Basically, ATV LED whip lights can strobe in several single colors or RGBW patterns as led navigation lights or led emergency lights for offroad vehicles. In the winter,  it is possible to re-purpose and optimize the regular led whip lights for use of snow plow marker, which primarily involves visibility in snow plow, durability against winter and legal compliance.

Unlike other offroad adventure, most of the time, amber and white color flashing pattern is often chosen to cut through snow,fog,dust at night and in the daytime . If the ATV led whip light in in RGBW pattern, set it to amber/white for safe application.

Although amber white is the most popular color combination for warning/illumination, in some areas, other colors like green color or blue/white color combination may be permitted for legal certification requirements.

Remember to turn off multi-color chasing, music sync or rapidly changing color patterns on your led whip lights to avoid distracting. If you do need a warning flash , choose the slow,highly visible strobing pattern for indication of a moving snow plow.

Based on our hands on experiences, we know that excessively bright and unfocused light can glare or blind oncoming drivers or pedestrians in heavy snow. Adjust the installation space or angle to offer the best long-distance visibility without making a blinding hot-spot.

As we know, snow plows vibrate constantly and hit hard snowbanks. A spring base mount or quick-disconnect base are suggested to absorb shock and prevent the light pole from snapping. Ensure the mounting location on the snow plow is structurally sound. Regularly check the mounting bolts for tightness.

For reliability of operation,  dielectric grease can be used on exposed terminals and waterproof heat shrink tubing are spliced or connected to guard against moisture, salt and de-icing chemicals. Loom the power wires along the frame of vehicle to avoid heat sources, sharp edges or moving parts.

During the operation, wipe the led whip lights frequently to prevent ice buildup. If you see moisture or ice inside the tube, if you need to replace it immediately for repairs.

·        As snow plow led marker lights need to show the full width of the plow in the show, the optimal place is at the outermost edge of the plow blade or on the plow frame. Sometimes, the led whip lights may be installed on the top of snow plow for longer distance illumination. Vertical visibility is tall enough to be seen above the snow pile on the hood and above the light from the led headlights.

For the purpose of clear edge definition, one pair of led whip lights are often used, one on the left side, the other on the right side.
