UV Industry Associations warns avoiding direct exposure by UV LED lights to human body

Follow professional UV disinfection guideline to fight coronavirus
Recently, many products using UV LEDs or UV lamps are hot sell in the market because people are using them to fight the coronavirus.However, The International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) warns that it is not safe at all to use UV light directly on human body. It announced that there no written protocls to suggest the safe use of UV light directly on human boday at the wavelengths that can kill viruses such as SARS-CoV-2. Exposure to UV light at that wavelengths might cause skin burns, skin cancer or eye damage in some way.

The said international organization strong suggests users must follow health and safety precautions to avoid direct exposure of human body to UV light when UV LED related products used used to disinfect medical equipment, surfaces or air during the COVID-19 epidemic.

More and more people are using UV LEDs or UV lamps to disinfect their home, warehouse or even in vehicles to combat COVID-19 virus recently. If wrongly used, the UV rediation could be dangerous during the disinfection. The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) recently made a professional guideline to provide helpful information for UV LED  disinfection and its potential to reduce the spread of coronavirus effecitvely.
