Japanese NICHIA demonstrates a newest single LED solution with dual function for lighting and disinfection

As the world-famous supplier and inventor of high-brightness blue and white LEDs, Japanese NICHIA has successfully developed a newest dual purpose LED chip  that can achieve both white light and high energy inactivation of various bacteria.

The continued surge of Covid-19 pandemic has made great influence on the business and life around the world. More and more people realize that healthy hygene is so important in daily life. As we know, UVC LEDs whose UV-C and UV-B wavelengths ranging from 200nm to 380nm can disinfect viruses. But, recently, the visible led light ranging from 380nm to 420nm can kill bacteria,too. NICHIA newest LED solution NF2W585AR-P8 can work at a peak pump emission wavelength of ~405nm. Based on its leading phosphor and die technology which has been improved over decades of innovation, Nichia can make a balance between general white lighting and disinfection bacteria by this single LED solution.
